Coming to the realization that her boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend, was dead was not an easy thing for Shelby to do. She constantly bashed her head against the steering wheel and asked for help from no one in particular. She swung the car around driving to Ryan's house to drop off his little sister. She pulled up to the curb to let her go into her house. She didn't want to face his parents and their overwhelming questions, as if enough stress wasn't on her shoulders already. As the girl waved goodbye, Shelby waved back slowly and waited until she got inside. Shelby sat there and didn't move. "Shelb, let's go to my house. We don't need to hurry right now," I said. She nodded and sped off to my house. As I pushed the key into the lock, looking off into the distance I saw Kay walking back and forth on her porch. Like a never ending teeter-totter, her feet slowly went forwards and then backwards. Without wanting to let the others see, I hurried them inside. "Shelby what do you need?" Kirdey asked. Shelby sobbed for a while but managed to get the words, "I need to be alone" out. As she scuttled off to my guest room, we all plopped down on the couch with a sigh. "I have no idea what we are doing," I said. As Jordan and Kirsten stared off into the distance, I seemed to keep where we were headed at the front of my mind. Maybe we needed to get away. Away from everything. Maybe Jordan didn't shoot Ryan. Maybe it wasn't Ryan at all. Whatever the case, the four of us needed to leave. As we talked a little, Shelby came back into the room after about an hour. As she sat beside me, she asked when we would be leaving and smiled. "Now," I answered. As we were about to scoot out of my house, the unmistakeable sound of a girl, maybe their age, screaming. They all looked back and forth at each other, open-mouthed and unable to find words to say, yet Shelby didn't seem as concerned, not that the three girls across from her noticed. As slight grinned came across her face, before she wiped it away quickly. Yes, Shelby may have come to the realization that her boyfriend was dead, but that didn't mean that the path on the way there didn't include revenge. Revenge on people that got in her way.
